Implicit vs. Explicit Bias
01/09/2020
For our first activity after the holiday break, we continued our focus on implicit bias. The 7th and 8th grade students first watched a video on what bias is to establish a background. After, they did an ADL activity on the two different types of bias. The students stood in the middle of the room and were read fictional situations that could be real situations in life and they had to determine whether it was an example of explicit or implicit bias by moving to either the left or right side of the room. After they each made their determination they would discuss why they thought it was either implicit vs. explicit. When the situations were over, they went to MTV's bias website and took implicit bias tests.
